My advice is always 12 thou on inlets and 15 thou on exhausts. This allows the exhaust to have enough clearance to close up a little when it gets HOT.

The tappet clearance is also a product of the rocker ratio...

All the figures above relate to standard rockers ( assume 1.25:1 ratio )

Personally I set clearance @ 14 thou on the above ratio...

Just out of interest would 14 thou be recommended by the gurus for a 998 on standard valves as well ???? I'm just following Haynes at 0.30 (13 thou) at the moment !!

Although I suspect accounting for wear in the comments and how much drag you call correct on your feeler gauges difference between 13 and 14 thou could be very little ???
