Light nights rule.

I have to run a 32A cable (approx 20mm diameter) round to my garage everytime I want to work in there, so having light nights mean no rolling the cable up in the pitch black -sweeeeeeeet. been out there til 10:00 every night for the last couple of weeks, I cant show everything in the build diary yet as I am doing final bits that I want to keep under wraps until the reveal.

Another good thing about light nights - I get to back the car out and just let it run for no ther reason than I can.

Good to see some of the faces back on here tearing it up.

Pete, your right I should spend more time doing the car - note to self "must do car".

Three mice are sat in a pub having a few pints and they're discussing which one is the hardest.
The first mouse says, "I'm the hardest. I go up to mousetraps, rip out the cheese and, as the bar comes down, I benchpress it 30 times and throw it across the floor."
The second mouse replies, "You nonce! I get the rat poison, crush it into powder and snort it!"
The third mouse shrugs his shoulders, downs his pint and walks to the door.
"Where you going?" ask the other two.
"I'm off home to f*ck the cat!"

So someone decided to remove the word association game - guess someone felt it was in the wrong section.

You have the weight of the Z Cars forum on your shoulders, share the load if you need.

Lets see if we can all meet up at Oulton Park this weekend?

(this thread will be deleted soon!)

Hey Les

If it wasnt quite so far I would do, although this is the weekend I get my car on the road so there's two hope of me going anywhere other than in the garage to finish off the last few bits and then out for a few spins (not literally I hope). I am currently crossing everything for good weather over the bank holiday, there should be a sprint on at Goodwood on Monday so will get myself up there to watch the action (weather permitting).

Will try and get to a northern meeting one day in the future.

I've been 'lurking' on the Z Cars for a while. (about a year+)

I know most people when they start a project they decided which route to take. Be it Z Cars or otherwise.

I'm still working on the shell and the rot situation. What I do know, is I'd like bike power. I had made my mind up with a Promotive conversion. After budgeting the suspension set-up alongside diff, roll cage, reverse gear, engine, loom etc and all the parts you get with a Z Cars kit, there is surprisingly very little difference in the end cost.

The only thing holding me back from Z Cars R1, is the initial outlay and the massacre of my shell. Plus you don't get a front subframe with the the bike conversion (£1200 extra??).

Pro motive, will allow me to keep the mini shell intact, without needing a IVA test ... but sadly its FWD as people have mentioned its an insane amount of torque going through a fwd car set-up.

Just my two cents really. Only time will tell which route I take.

Although I went the Z's route I still like the idea of a Promotive kit,you dont loose the handling characteristics of the old classic. Like you say, budget plays a big part and there are so many hidden costs in a build it does start to spiral, even a 15% contingency is too little.

I hope you get all the rot sorted and I look forward to lurking around the motorbike engine swap forum (I do already, getting ideas for my next one - complete self build from ground up (obviously with a mini shell)).

Hi Andy,

didn't realise you were that far south?

I've found out today they're not racing tomorrow but Monday instead. The line up at Oulton looks pretty good too.

I've never been to Goodwood but heard good things, are you near to it then?

Les
