I wanted a harness bar for my own Mini so made one up to bolt to the rear aches, this raises the mounting point for the rear straps to a much safer position and more inline to where they would be mounted if I had a cage fitted. In my view this is better than just bolting them to the rear seat belt mounting points which really makes the straps sit at too low an angle and not directly inline with the back of the seat.

I have used 32mm CDS tube and laser cut 3mm brackets and sandwich plates, with guides for harness up to 3-inch wide and M10 fixings. I'm gonna make a few up to sell if anyone else is interested just drop me a PM or email me at [email protected] cost will be 32.50 plus delivery so not expensive. Seen some for a Saxo or something like that on Ebay for 80-quid!!

Please note i can also make these with a single harness guide for use with 3-point harnesses or with the guides not welded on at all so you can position these yourself for one off applications.
I am also look at making them to go with a stadard bolt in cage which doesnt have a harness bar fitted. If you require one for this particular application please drop me a line.

These look really good Jon! I have to bucket seats, no rear seats and my 3 point harnesses attachted to the rear seatbelt bolts. but this looks really good :) If i had a rear cage, would this bar still fit in it?

I'd like to see the one for a bolt in cage, would it still work with a diagonal brace fitted?

Looking at making another bar for use with a cage although you may still be able to bolt this to the rear arch with the cage fitted but would need to see a picture of your arch. The harness can either be wrapped around the bar as in normal motorsport applications or I can install some 4mm tags to allow you to bolt the harness directly to the bar. Hope this helps.

Still in the design stage, my main problem is the various cages that are currently in use so it may be a universal bar that attaches to the inner face of the rear arches rather than trying to link into the standard cage mounts. Should have something sorted next week.

You need to wrap them around in a particular manner, will post some pictures later and also some of a bar with a bolt on lug fitted. Off down the workshop shortly ;-)

First picture shows hw you ca wrap the harness round the bar either 3 or 4 point, its not fully secured in that picture as the strap needs to loop back thru but you get the idea. I have also done one today that you can bolt your harness directly to either using one of the readily available harness eye bolts or you could just bolt directly to the lug.

Jon, I hate to pick fault but that single eyebolt worries me, I'd seriously consider reinforcing that.
