Mini/BINI topics were quiet for a while, I mean not a lot of them lately (a part of the 25 pages on the Forum questions Section...)

If people are going to post them again, TMF should take a final decission. Either open a BINI section or ban the topics...

IMO that's the only solution. Opinions on the mentioned thread, please!! :(

How about those that don't like the Bini, just resisting the temptation to post negative comments.

Not as if the thread was raised in "mini chat" either.

that's what I was trying to say without causing annoyance...

The bit about this is that I don't get is why people feel the need to blame the TMF team for the thread closure?

- We weren't the ones who were trying to be deliberately offensive

- We weren't the one behaving like utter children

- We weren't the ones using sock puppet accounts to try and stir up trouble.

The fact of the matter is that if people didn't behave in an unacceptable manner threads wouldn't have to closed and set invisble while they were cleaned up.

Its really that simple.

The Thread originator was advised! have a read through the posts above. We will not pm everyone on the thread as that is just rediculous. As for the work, the entire thread was set to invisble in order for the work to be done and that is our perogative to do so. [/color][/b]

A simple message could have been put on the closed thread for a minute or so, then the work done. Adding words like "and that is our perogative to do so", do you really think that helps the situation? To the masses it says "..... you we do what we like.

I know you guys do a lot of work under pressure but 30 seconds thought before an act would save you so much.

Agreed, I have nothing against mods making adjustments, I think many do so too frequently and unnecessarily, but that's just my opinion. It just made me quite angry that the the thread was closed with no warning or words describing why. If any action is made to a thread, closed, posts deleted etc, there should written confirmation, and a reason. What's the point of posting if you think your post could be removed at any minute. The people with sock puppet accounts are low lifes with nothing better to do with their time than intentionally cause trouble and as such are banned, but there is no excuse to hide what's going on from the honest forum users, it just alienates people, and just helps create this picture that I think a lot of members see, of the mods being "the other side". Adam, you say that the thread was made invisible, but I could still see it at all points?

Quoting me incorrectly isn't going to help the situation either! Read the entire scentance... "As for the work, the entire thread was set to invisble in order for the work to be done and that is our perogative to do so."
It is our perogative to set it to "invisible" to allow us time to sort the issues. And when it is invisible you wouldn't get to see a comment left on the thread as it is not visible to normal members (only members of the team Pete). once it had been cleaned a comment was added and it was put back to visible.

As for the 30 seconds comment. All i can say is it goes both ways.

Its just the fact that the thead appeared closed with no warning or reason given. Do you not think that a simple message on the thread, temporarily closed but visible, saying "this thread will be closed for clean-up in say 3mins" would have helped?

In this case ...No!!

You can't set something invisible and then write in it.

The entire thread will disappear until its been cleaned up and set so its re-visible to everyone.

I didn't realise the thread was made invisible to non staff members, makes some of my points invalid. I do however think that keeping the thread visible and writing a comment stating what was happening would be better than making it invisible.

Normally yes, but due to the fact that we had to deal with a Sock Puppet Account we had to make it invisible so as to give us time to investigate without them causing more grief.

At the end of the day, mods/admin will do as they please. All I was saying about Jonsey's comment was there was NO need to add the "its our perogative" part. It did not help and only hindered the situation. I know you cammot write on an invisable thread Shifty, but my suggestion was to explain before you made it invisable.

Nothing can now alter what has happened, but maybe things might be different next time a situation like this arises.

No we do not "Do as we Please" we have rules for moderators just like we have rules for members.

And Again, Quoting out of context is not helpful

What some you may not realise is that stuff like this may not be dealt with by just one person.

It depends on what needs doing and who's available, in this case the sock puppet account needed checking out properly.

I believe in the case the OP was PM'd and notified of what was happening(as per the TMF regs)

Please remember that we're only human and do this in our spare time, to make everyone happy is virtually impossible.

Sending out loads of PM's, starting a new thread to explain to everyone what we're doing and then cleaning up the mess caused by a few idiots as well takes time. In my case I know I don't have time to do all that usually so its a quick clean up and re-instate the the thread.

I really don't see the point of writing a comment on a thread, leaving it there for 30 seconds and then making the entire lot invisible achieves.
