If you're looking for something powerful, unless you've got very deep pockets you're not in the right place with a classic Mini. You'd need to replace the engine with a Vtec or redtop, or turbo the A series, for serious power. But then if you crashed, it would be pretty clear that the engine has been modified. And then you'd be screwed.

Minor upgrades would be more reasonable. exhaust kit, richer needle, change the head, sporty cam...those things would be more discrete. But insurance premium dodging is a risky business.

Bear this in mind when messing with insurance,if you get stopped by an over zealous policeman and he finds your modifications your insurance may well be voided and your car siezed and crushed,as a young driver 6 points for no insurance will ban you and you have to start all over again and will not be able to get insurance on a skate board.
If your not going to have the correct cover, then save yourself a fortune and have no cover at all,you can buy loads of mods with the money you save.

See, .. you've upset every one now

Get the timing set properly and the mixture and make sure all is well with the ignition system. Clean and in good order with new points rotor arm condenser and dizzy cap.
It will go very well believe me.

The first part of your reply sounded like you was giving some good down-to-earth sensible advice then it looked like you lost it on the last sentence :-

So just checking :errr:

at 17, just having A CAR should be enough to keep you happy. I was thrilled with my Mini, even though (at the time) it was completely standard, with dirty steelies and peeling paintwork. Turning 21 in November though, bring on the 1275 :-

i dont want my dad to no he do sent approve me to have a fast car

Isn't it your car?..

yer but he is paying the insurance

Insurance that will be invalid if you start modifying the car.

Best LEGAL way to improve performance will be to give the standard engine a thoroughly good service so it's performing as it should, rather then running badly on old plugs with gloopy oil!

Then, the next step would be to seperate the inlet and exhaust manifolds, but as soon as you start modifying anything your insurance becomes
invalid, and if you do have an accident you'll get a fine AND lose your car to the crusher!

As has already been said. Good service and maybe upgrade to electronic ignition, rather than points. Make sure you declare everything to the insurance company.
Also, lots of polish and wax to the bodywork. Smoother the paintwork= less drag and faster acceleration(maybe).
And take all the crap out of the car that you don't need. Maccies wrappers, drinks cans and any 12" subs/amps etc.

Not quite true... the smoother the surface the higher the friction due to laminar flow boundary layer dynamics, what you actually need to do is cover it in shark skin to create a thin turbulant boundary layer which gives less friction.
