I sure hope so Charlie! After being rear ended a couple of years ago in a mini I wasn't going to skimp on the cage!
I said I'd never have another mini but the mini bug has a firm grip!

Tonight I made some progress! I got the mini on a homemade dolly courtesy of a pallet and some biffa bin castors which made it easier to manoeuvre and work on. I forgot how small minis are when there in the pokey garage of ours.
Got the subframe mounted via the side mount plates, had to make some new ones as the old ones off the previous shell were way out. Sits nice and level just needs a little tinkering and the the plates shot blasting and painting. First I'll have to make the bottom mounts up though.

Looks an interesting project! How much was the shell if you don't mind me asking? I'm looking for a good one to re shell the missus mini!
I thought the original shell was familiar, spotted it on ebay while looking for shells!

I paid £310 for it, very impressed and had to have it. The pictures really don't do it justice. Saved an enormous amount of time.
Yeah it sold once and the buyer made up a bonkers excuse. The current buyer should be turning up to collect it tomorrow fingers crossed

Tax more progress today. Started refurbing the hubs, started on one first.
Removed hub and bearing
Removed top balljoint, what a pain!!!!!!
Sand blasted hubs ensuring the delicate bits were masked off.
Painted the hubs black with a first coat of POR-15
