Ive spent the last few days striping my mini down. It now stands as a bare shell, with no doors, and half of front end.
Im going to be putting a GRP flipfront on it, Fiberglass doors, and a fiberglass bootlid too.
Obviously the Fiberglass parts are going to need spraying up, but the current shell (Minus Front end, Doors or boot lid) is all quite good paint. I like the colour.
Only problem is, Ive had the car sprayed before, and they did a REALLY bad colour match, And its just put me off getting it done this way again.
If I was budgeting, I could get away with the FG front, doors, bootlid and scuttlepannel spraying up. Oh, and the A pannels.
But would it cost much more just to get the complete shell resprayed?
Just thinking in terms of Prep work. Theres not alot wrong with the current paint to be honnest. Only on the rusty parts (Which are being replaced with FG anyway, Which will obv need spraying).
Im going to take a trip to the local body shop later. What sould I be expecting to pay for
a, Complete respray, No masking up required as its a bare shell with Nothing which cant get overspray on it.
b, Spraying up of FG doors, boot, Flipfront, A pannels, Scuttle and then blending into the car
Ta very much.
Sorry to be a pain, Its just I really dont know anything about paints, and dont want ripping off.

this would be the best bet, usually the price rages from £400 upwards depending on the condition of the car and the type of paint etc. if you pay any less then it will probly be a cr*p job and a waste of money

i would definately try and stretch to the full respray, as you'll only regret it in the future. trust me
why not prep it yourself? its not hard, just time consuming.

If you take your car to good body shop they would suggest a full paint job anyway.
Theirs no point in painting the front end, ‘A’ panels, scuttle, 2 doors and a boot and then blending into the 1/4 ‘s and the back of the car for a match! It’s going to be much better to paint the whole car one colour without blending in every where.
Expect to pay around £500 - £800 for your paint job. It might be more, all depends on what work is needed on the fibre glass.

If the rest of the car is good then there is no need to go back to bare metal , the prep work on these bits will be minimal and therfore not cost a lot (remember you will be paying for hours spent )
