This is the worse thing that could happen to me, I have a steering wheel lock (decent one with secure four way key) and I also have a GPS tracker now as well hidden inside with its own power supply for upto several days. Another useful thing is having your car registered at a differant address to where its usually kept....as alot of our cars appear here, facebook or magazines....

Have you checked with the DVLA to see who or if, a 3rd party other than the police has done a registration search on your car? for address etc.

It isn't the best idea to publish this on a forum surely? It just means if yours is targeted, then they know what to bring to be sure that they take the car?

Thieving scum are everywhere. Behalf indon't understand is how all these CctV cameras dotted about are great for catching people doing minor stuff, like taking a piss in a bush at 4am, but are useless when it comes to catching proper criminals. Surely the car must have been picked up on camera at some point in it's journey to wherever it's getting stripped or prep'd for export?

The car is also registered at a differant address and resides in a quiet side street, anyone using the DVLA database to illegally look up its location will be disappointed when they discover its never where it should be....

What happens if they follow you to its location one day? A quiet side street is almost worse, as that means no-one will be watching.

At the end of the day, It's not my mini, it just seems illogical to say what your security measures are if you have them fitted.

If we all drove around worried about being followed home we would never go out, let alone drive a Mini. My street is at an inner city location, quiet as there is no traffic but close knit enough to deter car crime and too narrow for a wagon to role up and just lift it. Sensible precautions will prevent or deter any attempted theft, these criminals stealing Mini's are opportune in they know how to hot wire and are working in a small team which may involve a tow car or wagon, some of it maybe the 'not want to get involved' mentality of society which is a factor.
