Ha ha no wouldnt dare miss a oppertunity to do this,So you want it to curve with the roof lines (including the wooden slats) & be mounted on the gutters as apposed to the original suckers ?

wooden slats i will do my self and ile get it painted/powdercoated white then just need the frame to be made and also nice and strong so it carries suitcases spare wheels bits and bobs for when i travel. yes would like to clamp it to the gutter edge will get some wing bolts or something to clamp it.not to botherd about curving around the roof straight would be fine and easier for you? i take it you are up for it then? lol

Would you prefer the slats to go side to side or front to back ?
The light tanned wood colour would contrast well with your white mini.

Ha ha yeah future planning only  .
Just wanted to know which way the slats were going so i know which way to weld the "load bed" support is i.e as the slats will be front to back i'll do two in a side to side manner.

Hmm i guess we'll just have to decide weather it looks good or not are selfs then, seeing as no one has a opinion (over 200 view now :ohno: ).

Would it not make sense to just buy a roof rack? They're not that expensive when they pop up for sale.

Tom, I know someone with a classic desmo roof rack on his mini that is sitting on it doing nothing. It doesn't have wooden slats, but I've seen the same rack at shows with slats been added to it. I can find out about it if you want? Although iirc I think one of the lower bars is bent from having something heavy on it. I'm sure it'll straighten out easy enough though.

Desmo is one of the best racks you can get. I'll pop round his one day during the week after work
