This is a bit like the Jeremy Kyle show TV. Regardless of whether we agree to the rules or not, by signing up the to forum we "agree" to abide the rules. Its a case of if you cant stand the heat, get out of the fire. No one forces us to use the forum. Some of the rules or warnings I have seen have made me giggle, but I have to agree with them to use the forum. The downside for the admin is that they will inevitably get grief/stick from people who disagree with something. I know the feeling first hand running my forum/club with my friends. There is a lot of hard work an effort that goes into this sort of thing. Alot of which will go unnoticed. People will moan, its the nature of the beast.

I am glad that people can see both sides of the situation.

None of the current staff started off as staff, we were all former members, we just signed up because we were into Minis. The reason we were asked to be staff (well, some of us volunteered and that got accepted) was becasue of the way we behaved over time.

As I've said before, I run another forum (with no rules on it) and am a member of a few others where I'm obviously not 'staff'. The ones I'm a member on where I'm not staff I just follow the guidelines and never have any trouble. It's just a case of respecting the people that are putting the effort in!

Neil is one of the best moderators TMF has seen for a while, hes always been fair and generally an all round decent bloke...

Really? my experiance is that he is a hippacrete happy to break the rules and make a personal attack or a heavy handed "ban" in the name of the so called rules, one of the worst "staff" on TMF imo.

Do you know who Neil is? I don't recall him banning anyone.

yes and yes as he got a positive review i thought it only fair and balanced to air my experience.

One thing I will say. It's very, very rare for one member of the team to decide on a warning, even rarer when it comes to a ban.

Items get reported and then discussed in the team areas, normally then one person is selected to issue the warnings or in extreme cases the ban.

Its also worth mentioning that the warning system didn't work for about 18 months, the mods couldn't give out warnings. No one noticed, thats says a bit about how many warnings are actually given out.

Am very suprised by this,Neil is one of the more respected moderators on the team, and from my experience in staff discussions always remains balanced and impartial.
Its also a testiment that although he is a very busy guy still manages to give up most of his free time to make sure TMF is a good place to be for all.
