Hello there, i will be turning 17 soon and have been looking for the right mini to buy. However after having received some insurance quotes coming in at around £2700 i'm starting to get a bit worried. I was just wondering if there any 17 year olds on here and how much does your insurance cost you? (include engine size, insirance company and modifications)

P.S I don't want a black box.

Kind Regards
Harry

I just did a quote on a 17 year old on my old mini (998) with it lowered, wider wheels, exhaust and air filter . I got a couple of quotes for £700. Try comparethemarket.com or ring up elephant or admiral. They're both good for young drivers in my experience. Also it could be to do with where you live. Look at your postcode on here http://www.carinsura...-risk-list.html

Hope this helps

my first year at 17 was £1900. Standard car, 998, agreed value, blah blah, limited mileage - tpft. Both parents as named drivers, parked on driveway.

Just renewed, £1300 fully comp. Mods declared. Unlimited mileage, agreed value etc. Both with adrian flux.

Well don't I feel burnt. £2200 with Adrian flux. Had to be paid up front in one lump sum - don't know how they expect 17 year olds to do that! - limited mileage, tpft, 998, stage 1 kit, wider wheels, arches, spacers, lowered, repainted, bucket seats, harnesses, roll cage and its in a low risk area in a locked garage at night or secure car park during the day! Absolutely ridiculous.

I started my insurance when i was 17 (18 now) and i go with goodgirl insurance. Costs me roughly £1500 on a 998cc Mini City E 1985- no modification. I did it through compare the market so bagged myself a meerkat who chills on the back shelf like a legend, so yeah have a look on there.

And that's telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
Had my Dad as a named driver, that's it
