New Boot Corner Sub - Fiberglass And All

Thanks for the information that is really helpful.  What do you think about flipping it so its vertical on the back of my read seat?  Should I still worry?

Vertical is good, just as long as there is a little air space above it.

I am gonna trial it where it is cause it was a ******* to mount it and would love to leave it up there but if it seems too hot after a drive I will probably move it to the seat back in the boot.

Day 4:

 

Still no fiberglass because I don't have the money for it yet.  I installed my new door cards from Optimise Auto today.  They are amazing quality and I am so excited with the look.

Haven't installed it yet, but I've measured out a piece of MDF for an amp mount under the parcel shelf, right way up, with the board under the amp, and two sets of l-brackets joined to make z shapes. One flat of the z is under the board, and then the brackets come up the sides of the board and mount to the underside of the parcel shelf. The two center holes of the parcel shelf will provide some room for cooling, and if that turns out insufficient, then a pcu fan will fit in the cutouts to actively draw cooler air over the amp..
This would still keep the back of the seat free, and prevent crap loaded in the boot from covering and overheating the amp

Thats a really good idea.  I may have to try that.  I may also just install two PSU fans while it is upside down since I alraedy mounted it.  Then I will have some active cooling back there.

Day 4!!

 

I finally got some fiberglass for the remainder of the subwoofer enclosure.  I also set out to get my under seat headunit holder finished.  Take a look!

Day 5!!
 
I woke up this morning early and got out to do a little more before I went out of town for the day.  I got a second coat of fiberglass on the box and moved forward with the headunit holder.

Day 6 Final Day!!

 

I finally finished the box and got the sub installed this weekend!!  I wrapped it with carpet however the carpet looks like **** so I will have to redo that.  Hence why it isn't pictured.  Otherwise the sub sounds awesome and my sound system is finally balanced throughout the whole car.  

 

 

I will get some better pictures in the coming days!!

Changing songs on the motorways will be fun. Looks great though!

Luckily all of that is controlled on the iphone so I just do volume on the headunit.  I don't have an antenna installed so I dont have radio.

Thanks!!  I really wouldn't consider it hard to do at all.  The hardest part was being patient.  Fiberglass takes time to cure and become hard.  Waiting for it to dry was the hardest part.  Otherwise it was really quite easy.  

 

Some things that would have made it even easier:

• REMOVE THE BOOT LID!!  Holy crap I wanted to rip that sucker off by the end of the whole process.
• When you lay the trash-bag down in the corner, make it one layer thing so that the bag doesn't slide on itself.  Basically so its just one sheet of plastic.  
• Tape the trash-bag to the inside of the car so it doesn't slide around.  
• Get a whole gallon of fiberglass resin.  You will need it for sure.
