reason i ask, is ive just been given a 2.0 vectra (96). is there much difference between this and the red-top.

if I was thinking about fitting this into a clubman, is there any reason why the cavalier engine seems to be favoured over the vectra?

other than, im assuming the older 'red-top' is a quicker engine?

matt

The engine out of the vectra would be an ecotec so it would be around 130bhp, the redtop would have had 150bhp (or 155bhp without the cat.)

but apart from that, are they the same physical size... ie would it still fit in an allspeed 'big block' vauxhall subframe?

Yeah, theyre the same size, the block is basically the same to look at i believe. They use exactly the same mounts and the same gearboxes. So shouldnt be any trouble mounting in an allspeed frame.

Did he do it for a packet of Nurburgring shaped pasta, as we all know that’s the Stiggy’s favourite food? :)

Any more plans for lighhtening the car? (Or was the fg roof done to remove the sunroof)

was a weight saving plan but mainly to get rid of the sunroof - tis heavy and a lot of weight to be carrying up top.

other plans for weight saving are >_<

- completely flat boot floor, to get rid of spare wheel well and battery box so that i can run the back box right up tight.
- external door handles will be drilled (more bling than anything)
- might drill out the inner door frame where thwe winder mechanism fits, will keep the wind up windows though.
- investigate lightening the front end to reduce nose weight
