A Mini that came to me as an old convertible project.

Not done very well, the roll bar was only made 1mm thick metal.

Well, the next thing to do was to cut off the rest of the roof and just have the screen, well this means the sills need strengthening. I designed and made 3mm thick inner sills, with extra plates to stop the car folding in the middle.

And also modify the fuel tank so the filler is inside the boot. Quite an easy mod. as long as you properly empty the tank.

An MGB roadster that i have had in the workshop for a while.

Needed all the floor panels, sills, rear quarters, rear valance, and lots more.

Had to put adjustable door bars in as someone had previously replaced the sills without strengthening the body first. The door gap was tight at the bottom of the door, and about an inch wide at the top.

Once all welded up, it was sand blasted and then painted in every nook and cranny.

If there was any doubt to my restoration skills, you need to keep an eye on this.

Its a Bedford CA Van. Actually have two of them here, a camper and this van. the camper is being used as a donor.

Will need to make all the sills and floor panels from scratch. Built a metal folder in order to do this.

Had a long chat with Andy this morning, and my mini is being picked up this Friday morning, and off to his workshop for a complete paintjob, teal blue and old English white roof, inside, outside, underneath and inside bonnet and boot, he is also fitting the refurbed rear subframe, and pulling the motor to paint the engine bay, all for a very reasonable price, hopefully he can post some pics on here of progress. Martin.

My mini was transported to Andys workshop yesterday, by Chris his mate with a transporter, all very professional. I went along to meet andy and have a chat face to face and a look round his workshop and the cars he had in, there was 3 other minis there and a tr4a and a mk3 spitfire. Andy seems to know his stuff and I will post regular updates as work progresses. Cheers Mart.

Back from Andys workshop, my mini is a bare shell now !! all in primer and hopefully he should have painted the roof this afternoon in snowberry white. Very impressed with his work, took a few pics but cant for the life of me fathom out how to post them( advanced years 60+) rest of car to be in original teal blue, he has taken loads of pics and will post a few. Cheers Mart.

Hi Bikenutmart.
I was also wondering if you'd mind gicing a ball park figure on the spray job cost?

I am at that point where I either need to get a complete re-spray or sadly let my little mini go and I could really use some figures to help my calculations.

PM or reply, either is great with me if it's not too personal a question that is.

Thanks
T

Been to Andys workshop today and my mini is in its topcoat of teal blue and snowberry white roof, and looks the dogs!!! and its not even polished yet. Cant recommend this guy enough, his work is brilliant and his rates are very fair. He said he would post some pics on here. Just B,B and Ds to paint and fit now, cant wait. Cheers Mart.
