Haha, this is brilliant! I have a Studio 2, although some where in the history of the car, it's become a bit of a Cooper replica. Anyway, when I got mine, the first thing to go... yep, slave cylinder. Just like yourself. Kept reading and yours pulled to the right. Mine? Left. Lol.
Enjoyable to read and see your progress. Well done mate.

enjoying the sun whilst it lasted.. currently looking out my window at a crane blowing about in the winds. hope it doesn't fall this way :/

the mini seems to be braking in a straight line but im gunna give it a long test drive when its a bit dryer :)

also managed to purchase a rust free second hand rear subframe for £80 so i will enjoy building that up

Cheers

Elliott

Time for an update :) so whilst travelling back and forth to uni and back a couple months ago the master cylinder decided to let go of all of its fluid :/so i spend a day trying to fix the old master cylinder with new seals but got annoyed with it an bought a new one from mini spares (potters bar is down the A1 from uni so walked there). bolted it on with some braided brake lines and bleed the whole system and away I go again :)

then i got distracted from the mini with uni work and felt bad so i felt it necessary to change the oil and filter as it was warm outside :)

2014-03-03142608_zpsd7fc9dd0.jpg

so that may need some attention at some point but for now an oil change will do. i used a cool looking tool for the filter removal too :)

2014-03-03142858_zps1d5b25c2.jpg

by this point the car park warden was getting quite fed up with me and my mates fixing cars in the uni car park so i gave it a break for a bit.

but then a week before Brooklands mini day i felt the rumble of a warped disk that i have come so used to with my car after 5 different sets of discs :/ so off to mini spares for a set of front discs and pads. i got softer pads this time with the hope it wont over heat the disks as much under braking.

2014-03-14121606_zpsfff8874b.jpg

managed to avoid the warden on his travels and got the discs changed in a couple hours. Although you may see fluid from where i may have popped the piston out the calliper :( but that was sorted in no time.

And onto the big project this summer...

im planning to do a minor restoration on my mini :) various bits will be replaced including wings, front panel, bonnet, doors, A panels, scuttle, inner/outer sills, boot floor and rear valance.

so on a uni budget i have started to acquire parts to work with. i plan for the car to be off the road for only two months so i need every thing ready before i start cutting up my car.

2014-03-23190053_zps8e7b58ea.jpg

two doors that are basically rust free = £180

slightly rusty bonnet = £30

2014-04-08115409_zps7bd70234.jpg

I began by grinding back the bonnets rusty bits with my angle grinder which i got for birthday (thanks mum and dad)

2014-04-08124342_zps05aba907.jpg

was quite happy with what i found ! clean metal :) the i welded up a stress fracture in the skin of the bonnet

2014-04-08145640_zps07636a4f.jpg

and finally treated themetal before zinc priming it.

Then repeated the process for the passenger door which required more patching but its solid now :)

Looks like a nice project. So what panel work are you planning on undertaking while the car is off the road?

so theres been no progress on this for a while as i have been focusing all my efforts on my mates mini trying to get it through its MOT :P after three weeks of hrd work changing my mates minis bearings, ball joints, exhaust, manifold, brakes and other little bits we finaly had all the MOT fails fixed :) then this happens...

2014-05-22184324_zps377dbece.jpg

Dat camber Tho;) so upset by this as the cars fate is now on thin ice after all that work :/ luckily it happened in a private car park as my mate tested the brakes at low speed. And i will add that it was nothing to do with the components we were changing either as the front of the front subframe sheared in two leaving him with three wheels properly attached :(

so gutted but ishall update on that mini later :/ and onto the studio 2 :D

slow progress at the mo as im just getting all the bits together so when the time comes im ready to pull the grinder out :)

but im starting to add plenty of heritage panels to my collection including my boot floor i go for £130 :)

2014-05-21193441_zps97085545.jpg

anyway ive set a date of taking the mini off the road as the first of june :)

cheers

elliott
