Hello,

This is my project. You can skip the story if you wish and look straight at the pictures as i didnt do the restoration or the project myself - although it is my car.

Mini in the park 2012, i looked at my worn down mini and thought i need to change lots of panels, it had been driven every day for 6 years and the weather conditions and roads etc had taken it's toll. I got a quote from a national company and then i was recommended a local company in warwick who charged the same. The reason for not doing the work myself? I wanted to get the car back on the road for L2B13 i wouldn't be able to afford to start in January giving me 5 months to get it done. Also within that time my dad and boyfriend wanted to get their minis on the road - 3 months 5 months full time jobs it just wasn't going to happen. So i booked the mini in to get restored. January the car was taken away for a job that should take 8 weeks. 8 weeks had passed the car wasn't ready. The guy told me he'd need an extra 4 weeks to get it done (the end of March) I then got an email saying it wouldn't be ready until mid April, so i said it has to be ready for then, in order to get the paint done etc in time for L2B. 19th April i had the dreaded phone call to say my car isn't ready, so i had my dad pick my car up as i needed to get it done. I'd put down a 2k deposit of which the guy hadn't used any of that money on my car and now cant afford to pay me back. Anyway, the paint company found another company for me to get it done, they said it should take 3 weeks - looking at the pictures - Great still have a chance of going to L2B. However that was not to be, it took 6 weeks to restore the car as there were lots of things that needed doing to it, and to be fair the guys made the car show standard! They did alot of favours for me The restoration cost 3.5k. The car went to the painters, then guess what! more bad luck, the car had a few dinks in it, so had to pay extra for the painters to get them out, then the compressor blew up they had to wait a week for the part, then the air brusher was to busy to fit my car in! But finally, after 8 months and 3 weeks worth of waiting £10k in total spent it's worth it.

The interior is yet to be done but the outside is complete :)

Wow, you don't believe in subtle paint jobs do you? She looks fabulous, can't wait to see the finished article. Good luck with finishing her off.

Personally, I'd keep it neutral and one colour, so either all black or all white (personally I'd go for white to match the paint) - but, then introduce some of that amazing artwork on certain items such as the dashboard, centre console and door cards (some sort of window/panel on the door cards like our premium design).

Give me a shout if your still on the hunt for a place to get the interior done… looks like it would be a brilliant project to be involved with and we could supply the painters with our products, if you would like to combine leather and air brush goodness.

Thanks
Andy @ Optimise Automotive

EDIT: Followed the link in the other thread... and replied in the wrong place (never mind).

Did Covics do the bodywork prior to your paint? Looks sensational.
