Honda Vtec In A Clubman 1275Gt

Hello fellow Vtec builders. In a couple of weeks time i will be starting my own Vetec build and i am after some advise.

After reading through all the build threads on the other clubman builds i am wondering if it can be done without using a flip front on the car as i really want the front as is.

So can i be done people

To answer your question is yes you can leave the front as is but you will have to remove the inner wings.

However, the conversion is really not as straightforward as you think. There is literally no space to do any work on the engine if the front is not removable, in order to get the engine in would mean mounting the engine in the subframe first and then lifting the front end over it and attaching it to the car that way. This will cause issues in a way that the probability of you taking engine out of the car more then once will be very likely.

The car has come to me with an over bored engine, so even though it says GT on the V5 no one really knows if its original or not. At the moment i have a round nose that i have sorted as far as it can go and have always loved the clubman since i owned one back in the 80's.

About 10 years ago i owned an Accord type R and have missed it every day since i sold it so i see this clubby with a Vtec motor to power it as the perfect compromise between the car i love and some serious reliable power.

So to answer your question Hell Yeah

Done properly the VTEC in a Clubman can look like it's meant to be there.

If I ever done this conversion I would use a round front but it would be extended by 90mm, done properly it can look good

Yes it can be done because I am getting there take a look at my build thread and you will see what you need to do.

Would I do it again this way? Hell no its a real pain the ass!!!!

I have read through nearly every thread on the Honda section and when i saw yours it cheered me up as you look like the only one keeping the standard front end.
