I had a customer car in with your V2.5 hinges fitted. I found them to be only just strong enough for the weight of the bonnet and were showing signs of buckling.

This later V3.0 system seems to be of much higher grade and the gas strut will help that support...

Do you have a solution for the MK1/2 bonnets which have the inboard hinges ?

My worry with these is the bonnet itself kinking.  They are rather weak just in front of the hinges and can often kink on the outside edge.

Have you had any issues with these doing this?

Mine has kinked like that :-( but mine were these type:

The ones on here look a better design and a lot less hassle to fit.

Do I need to drill new holes or do they fit the original holes?  If I don't need to drill I'm in for a group buy though I haven't seen a price yet!

I think the website says it fits the existing holes. The gas struts also use the holes on the wings I think.

I see now it say " no drilling required" so I need to add VAT onto £83?  :ohno:

Yeah these are 3mm thick rather than 2mm so much more up to the job.

We've had a few requests for MK1/2 but the trouble is than a lot of people want the original look when it comes to the early models. If we can get 100 or so people interested we may start designing (we'll need to borrow/ buy a MK1/2 to try them out on and measure up too).

Not yet but as you say it can be weak there and if you were to try slamming the bonnet shut against the gas springs then I suspect you'll buckle the bonnet.

They replace the original hinges and the gas springs mount on the triangular strut braces.

Price is £83 + VAT and then a 10% group buy discount.

Would these cope with lifting a front end if the bonnet was welded to the wings?

Agreed. I suppose the 10% they take off would then be recouped in not having to post them out individually.
