This has possibly been the longest 'tomorrow' ever.
November 2014 to May 2017...
ALL BRACING FOR REMOVAL OF THE FLOOR IS NOW COMPLETE!
There have been so many hurdles to get over in the last few years, but i'm finally here! I now have a decent welder (seeing as a cheap one wasn't a good investment), a lot more knowledge and enough money that I don't have to be poor for 3 weeks before my next pay packet! The best bit is that the mrs has told me I have to get it done so I can now spend whatever I want on it. ;)
Few new bits to the overall plan:
1. Not going to be a C20XE mini, it's gonna be a Z20LET mini. I don't care how much shoehorning it'll take, so don't tell me.
2. Side exit exhaust (behind the front tyre for extra cool/chav points)
3. Carbon fibre roof.
Still gonna be my little bumblebee, and I still want a sleeper other than massive miglia arches.
I bought a rollover jig from eBay on the last bank holiday (£300 for anyone interested) and it came on the wednesday of that week. I won't give a review until it's all together and being used, but it seems like good quality and considering the steel used would probably cost £200, it's a bit of a steel*. It bolts into holes in the parcel shelf and into the shocker turrets at the rear and onto the subframe mounting holes at the front. I'm removing the rear subframe this coming week. Stay tuned for pictures!
On an unrelated note: how do you remove the top of the dash? I've tried tugging it but it won't budge and it's a bit too much of a jungle gym with all of the bracing inside for me to look from underneath. It's not in the way, but I could do with removing it at some point.
*pardon the rubbish pun
