1980's Metro Challenge Photos

A very sad day mate.
Steve encouraged me to start the business, rented me a workshop, taught me how to run it and do the accounts.
One of the nicest, most helpful people I could ever have met.
The days and nights tinkering are unforgettable. Steve always keen to try different ideas, Roy endlessly tweeking, doing stuff that didn't really need doing and Russ wanting to get down the Fox.

Dave Carvell raced this blue Maguire Mini and the blue Metro below.

 

 

 

 

 

The other two pictures are Dave Carvell aswell, the Matthews Motorsport car is in the old pitlane at Spa Francorchamps where Dave finished 2nd to Paul Taft, the guy leaning on the door is Richard Belcher who also became a Metro Challenge champion (in the blue metro above) which he bought from Dave at the end of that season, Dave then driving the Canon car run by John Maguire Racing, which was never as good as the blue car and lost out to Richard driving his old car !!!

I actually took the first three pictures in this post and had posted the other on another forum.

I have got quite a few more Mini and Metro photo's from that era and will post them if anyone is interested.

I have now scanned and titled some of my photos so I will attempt to post them.

You may notice a slight bias towards Dave Carvell.

I usually upload them into Photobucket and then copy/paste the link for each photo here so they appear full size.

I've just clicked on the thumbnails and they opened up perfectly!

 

I don't know you, mate, but if they're your own photos of your own racing perhaps dodgy and a bit bodged is a fair motif!

I had realised you could open up the thumbnails but thought it would be nice to post them full size, never mind I will stick with the thumbnails.
