How many people who have been playing with minis from when you could buy them for £50 with tax and test still have old log books lying around?

i've got loads of them, i either sell them on ebay or kill mini owners, steal their cars and ring them and then sell them on ebay ;-)

Probably loads!

I used to just write SCRAPPED across the logbook in marker pen and post it to DVLA.

I still have the numberplates for some of my old now scrapped Mini's but they just live on the garage wall

There is no longer a 'scrapped' tick box on the V5C as cars are only supposed to be scrapped now by licenced dismantlers and re-cyclers.

If you scrap a car at home (no longer encouraged) the DVLA  have suggested to some owners to just declare SORN indefinitely.

If I had a scrapped current Mini V5 (I still have a few from the past when I scrapped and built race Mini's) I would just declare SORN and file it away.......in years to come you may be in a position to buy a new Heritage Shell and build a Mini from scratch, it will be a lot easier to base it on an old donor car than register as new.

As I have said before I doubt many enthusiasts would actually hand in a Cooper S log book of any description if it had your name on it.......I know many regret scrapping such cars years ago and not retaining the log book for building a near nostalgic replica of their old car now or in the future !

This was about 13 years ago..

I recently scrapped a 306, a Mondeo and a Golf, all with major flood damage. i phoned up a local breakers yard and they came out and collected them both, gave me £150 and a receipt.

They logged them as scrapped with the DVLA and i got the certificate of destruction for the cars by e-mail.

Forum rules are quite clear on this:

"The sale of vehicle ID (V5s, VIN plates, etc) is explicitly forbidden on TMF, any adverts or posts condoning this activity will be removed with actions taken against the poster."

So please don't post asking if you should illegaly buy a V5 here, the answer should be obvious!!

Have turned up another couple of potentially dodgy ebay deals this morning, although they could just be genuine misunderstandings......

First one is this "1968" car - plates may be '68 but the shell looks much younger (correct me if i'm wrong though!):

Second is this Mini Van Project - All you get is a section of the cab and a rear window... oh yeah and a V5. Again, I could be being a kill joy here, but it does look like a disguised v5 sale :-/
