Helldriver Hoosiers are what I have been looking at. Ultimately I want substance over styling so if I have to go larger diameter I will but I would love to have 10"s if it can be achieved.

Finally got round to ordering my tube and now it has arrived I will be making a start on that. An oil can has been machined for the diff so just the bearings and carriers to sort then a sprocket and that's complete. Will upload some photos when I start on the cage.

Any progress on this build, i'm contemplating starting a busa build next year in a clubman estate with a home made subframe. Any updates regarding frame and diff would be great!

Cheers.

Avon CR6ZZ in 165/70r10 are a road legal moulded slick. Much superior to the AO-32r Yoko & highly recommended. They would work a treat with a Busa setup. I run these tyres on my R1 mini with KAD 4pot calipers & braking performance is superb. No fade on track & great decel. However, this on a mini weighing around half a ton. As long as you are near or lighter than this it would be a very good setup IMHO.

Keep it on 10s :shifty:  Good luck with the build!

Unfortunately not much progress to report. Had a super busy end to the year in 2015 and only now getting round to looking at the mini again. Still 100% committed to getting it finished just struggling with time. And I hit a brick wall trying to bend the tube, my tube bender just kinks the tube, tried loads to get round it but to no avail. Now looking into getting the tube made up, only downfall being if its not quite right its going to be a lot of hassle sending it back to be tweaked and could be even more expensive. Cannot find anywhere local that has a mandrel tube bender and struggling to convince my boss to buy one!

Minor update, today I called someone I very fortunately came across online who is local and builds hot rods. He has a tube bender with the dies capable of bending 1 3/8" and 1 5/8" so now looking into building the whole cage using 1 5/8" which converts to 41.28mm. I need to find out whether this size is approved by fia/msa and then I can order some and finally get on with my cage. Will soon be putting my tube kinker on eBay as il never have use for that again! and il try sell the 4 lengths of 1 1/2 CDS I bought, also have a couple metres of 1 3/4" which will be going cheap... win some loose some

What brakes are people using on these cars? I have the cosworth rear diff with driveshafts and hubs. I'm thinking of using mini sport 4 pots on the front as I believe these can go under 10's and some sort of modified Sierra setup at the back, Sierra calipers and machined discs.

A few years on....

Since starting my own engineering business in July 2016 I now have a large industrial workshop and all the welders and equipment you could throw at a mini, I even bought a proper hydraulic rotary draw tube bender!

But I have accepted I do not have the time or motivation to complete or continue with this project. Work is and has been none stop, I am now the proud father of 2 daughters, 2yrs old and 2 weeks old! I am into motorbikes and rarely get the time to use them.

I utterly regret stripping my mini in the first place but no one could of told me any different back when I started.

I start the GSXR engine every couple of months or so just for 10 seconds to keep the fuel elements from clogging up.

I have sold all GRP panels since apart from the boot lid which I still have and the mini shell is currently buried up on my mezzanine looking rather sorry for itself.

I don't have any immediate plans to sell the shell although I would consider letting it go as a complete project for the right offer.

I would sell the engine complete with loom and ancillaries. I also have single exit and twin exit exhaust manifolds. 1999 unrestricted busa engine

I also have the sierra rear diff and running gear and a machined aluminium oil housing.

Im not actively looking to sell it or any part although I would be open to discuss.

Congrats on the rugrats, my 5p worth, if you’re not desperate for space and/or money keep it. I’ve just agreed to purchase another mini. I’m 49 yo and this is probably my 9th Mini. Many never got finished and sold on and I regret those decisions. Put it all away and revisit in a few years! You won’t regret it.
