Took the plunge and purchased 2 x 225/45/13 Toyo 888 for my rears I have added some pictures as you can see the difference between the AVON CR500 and the TOYO 888.
Went to Knockhill my local race circuit to pick up the tyres only to find the big boys were playing with there Porsche Carrera Cup cars were out playing and the The Dunlop MSA British Tourin Car Championship is due to take place at the weekend.
As you can see I will save lots of mm compared to the AVON CR500.
So back to our lord and master CPTK his info is correct, many thanks Don
The Guy who sold me the tyres was gob smacked as he suggested Avon ZZR 215/45/13 and sat them end on end and said they are bigger.

Hi andream88

The tyres are on and have included a few pictures, could some one tell me the size of the rose joints used in attaching the trailing arm to the frame.

The last picture is the difference between the old 195/45/13 tyre and the new Toyo 888 225/45/13 on an 8'' rim.

Again thanks to everyone

XMR 8-10....1/2” hole 5/8” RH thread

Are they starting to knock/have a bit of play?

I have a metallic knock from the passenger rear that's why I started looking and found the engine mounts needed replacing that was done and at the same time replaced the rose joints on  the anti role bars front and rear, the metallic knock is still there so the only thing I can think of is the rose joints on the trailing arm.

It's not there all the time but go over a rough road it knocks away.

I'd put the mini on a lift and check that the knock is really coming from there first.

Rod end bearings are not exactly cheap, especially considering that the car would need a new alignment afterwards..

Interesting, I have that knock too, thought it was the trailing arm touching the gearbox. It does touch but I still doubt that would cause the metallic knock. The trailing arm is now with a professional welder to modify it a bit and strengthen to make sure it doesn't collapse of so... Can you let us know if your new rose joints are solving the issue?

Thanks!

The rose joints used in the original kit are not the cheapest in the world but they're not far off it, once you replace them with a fairly decent set you will notice a difference (you could spend up to £80-100 per rose joint for high end NMB's)

Make sure to replace the bolts (and nylocs) at the same time as these may have an amount of wear to them and it wont hurt to do so, 1/2" UNF, unsure of length without measuring one.

If you measure the rose joints on the way out with a vernier (to a suitable place that you can re-measure them on the way in) and get them within half a turn on the way back in you wont need to get it re-aligned as they wont get it any closer than you can.

Thanks again for the info, I noted you posted a while ago about lubrication for the rose joints so nothing ventured nothing gained, used bike chain lubricant on the noisy side and it really made a difference.
Will still change them during winter.
Sad news missed out on a 1200 mile Jackson supercharger on Gumtree yesterday, the guy was selling for £ 800 as a result of crashing his car but took £700 as he did not think I would drive from Glasgow to Campbelltown even after telling him when I would arrive to day Arrrrrr,
