Hi,

My son takes his test in the mini in a few weeks. Assuming he passes he will be looking to insure it. As a new driver at 17 according to the meerkat the best policy is Tesco for around £1500 a year. However this has a box fitted to the car.

My questions are. Does anyone have a box fitted to their mini, where does it go, how does it connect to the battery, who installs it etc. ? Will a box act like a tracker if the car is stolen?

Secondly. How would you go on if you did a track day with the box fitted. Would it be able to tell you were not on a public road but on a track so not covered by the standard insurance anyway?

Thanks

Dont use the box in a mini, the price will sky rocket!

1. I dont know,

2. No it isnt tracker, it only meassures Gforces.

3. You will not be covered for track use by standard insurance

before buying make sure you read the small print VERY carefully! When I was last looking for quotes i had several for policies like this but in the small print they would oily cover cars 10 or 15 years old, mine is 36!!

there are different types of black box and I think some can and do act as trackers if needed.
