In which case, you'll need a specislist Agreed Value classic car policy, which you generally won't get from comparison websites or mainstream insurers. These type of policies often aren't an option for younger drivers, although you should be ok at 21, you might find that some require you to be 25. Be warned though, these types of policies don't usually allow you to earn/use any no claims discount, as they're intended for second cars. Meaning that unless you have your no claims discount in use on another car/policy, you'll loose it and it'll go back to zero should you ever need to go back on a mainstream policy.

Which will be cheapest will depend on your individual circumstances, but you could try: Peter James, Adrian Flux, Footman James, HIC Lancaster or RH Classic.

£2800 for my austin metro with a box. (after change of address penalty, stung me for £600 robbing ********)

No such thing as cheap 17 year old insurance.

Next year I can insure a 3 litre v6 4x4 sierra for £2400 though so it does get better

flux direct and general accident seem to be pretty good for me. 21 yr old at uni. quotes have been coming back between 250-350 without much tinkering on my 998 mayfair

comes down to named drivers, points, claims, location of vehicle and mileage mate. 130 is a golden price, would snap that up straight away.

I was insured on my 1988 mini the day i passed my test at 17- I'm with admiral and the car is under my name with both my parents as named drivers so it made it cheaper. I pay £900 so it is possible- and i don't have a black box just a limited mileage and a curfew of 11.

Sounds to me like they just don't want to insure you so they're throwing out silly prices

Well they quoted me £1500 for my mini completely standard and all I did was add 'uprated brakes' and it changed my quotes to £2600+. I thought it would have put it down if anything but oh well

With anything like brake upgrades the insurance will just assume you must be going faster to need better brakes

Suppose that makes sense. Was more for 10" wheel conversion but definitely won't be happening for a while
