Over the past few years our mini club has had to have insurance to attend events when we want to put up the Gazebo, Banners and Flags.

Now we have been paying roughly £115 a year but at IMM last year I was speaking to a chap who said they were only paying £60 as its only Liability insurance we needed not Event insurance. (can't remember who the chap was, I had been sampling the wares in the Rusty Subframe)

This year our renewal has come in at £165 even though we haven't had any claims so i am keen on finding a better deal considering our annual club budget is not much more than that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Chris

Not sure about the cheap option but I managed to sort my clubs insurance out with adrian flux for about £125. That allows us to attend up to 12 shows a year and also entitles members up to a 15% discount on their own car insurance through adrian flux as well so get some further savings there ... not sure if that helps but £165 does sound pretty expensive

I used to be an organiser for a Vauxhall Corsa Club. When we did events for that, I used Adrian flux Club insurance. As above, was the cheapest option available that covered everything.

I'm just about to renew our Club's policy, which is being offered by Adrian Flux for £165 for up to 16 shows attended. (£2m cover)

Anyone getting it cheaper and if so where?

Thanks

Out of curiosity what are you actually insuring against ?

The club's liability to third parties, eg:

Your club flag/banner/gazebo takes off in the breeze and damages someone's car or worse injures somebody.

Products liability for food and drink or regalia if you sell any.

You can also include cover for loss or damage to club regalia and other property (such as the aforementioned gazebo).

Some event organisers require evidence of this cover before they allow a club to have a stand, and even if they don't as a club you'd be well advised to have such a policy.  Apart from anything if you are a club official you could be personally liable if anything went wrong and the club had no insurance....

Obviously members' cars should be insured by their owner but your standard car insurance won't cover the scenarios described.
