My usual advice is treat this like you were selling the car.  The insurance company is the buyer and they want to pay as little as possible, be prepared to haggle.

I wrote off an MGB a few years ago, they offered £1800, after a lot of hassle(and getting the MG owners club involved) I ended up with £3500 and the car back.

It sounds like you're on the right track though.

The bigger issue is Without agreed valve insurance any car over 10 years old, from an insurance point of view is only worth its scrap valve. So with a mini your looking at best £100 to £150.

sorry way off topic here is that your 25 in the pic.

if so why is it on an a plate???

On topic - agreed value only counts if you're claiming on your own insurance.

Otherwise you're entitled to the lowest cost that gets you to where you were before the accident - repairs or cost of replacement.

There is another thread on a Lotus thread regarding agreed value insurance. Basically the guy agreed a value but in the last 12 months the value has shot up to a point that the car was massively under valued. Unfortunately a young drivers was sending a text and run into the back of the Lotus whilst it was parked and wrote the Lotus off. The insurance company paid out the agreed value which was nowhere near enough to replace the Lotus. :(

If he had not had an agreed value policy the insurance company would have had to pay out "market value" or replace the vehicle.

That throws up a few issues that might help the Lotus Owner.

As already mentioned, if the other driver is at fault they, or their insurers, are liable for all your losses.

Insurance brokers owe their clients a fiduciary duty of care. In other words, they have to act in your best interests, not your own. If they were aware the car was undervalued they should have advised or initiated a claim off the other party.

Off topic. Yes that is my 25 and yes it its on an A plate and not it isn't a tarted up Mayfair (although tencicaly that's what it basically is model wise). The 25 was released in June of 84 with the official/birthday release being in august at Donnington along with the B registration change. My particular example was first registered on the 6th of July 84, so would have been one of the first few registered hence why its on an A registration and not the more common B.

Defiantly been added at a later date, as originally it would have had a Lucas 59D dizzy with blue points. But it was also around the time (83/84) when some minis were unfortutaly (mine included) fitted with a ducellier dizzy identified by the red cap and external condenser. Mine long since found it way into the bin (best place for it) to be replaced with electronic ignition.

Why are you claiming on your insurance? Shouldn't you be claiming from the guilty party? Don't you just get quotes to repair it and send them to their insurance. Same as if you had no insurance, it's not your fault so they pay. That way you get paid AND keep the car.
