i just completed my 11th consecutive coat hah! at what point is there no point any more does anybody know

or will it go invisible and rain drops will be repelled like bullets next time its out in the rain ?

using auto glym super resin stuff (the red one)

3M is the best polish to use, IMO. You will also need a good polisher, and 3M polishing head. :highfive:  It leaves a very glossy finish. ;D

Was worrying you were just polishing the car, but you are waxing it (they're 2 very different products). If autoglym is working for you, then stick with it! It's not a bad wax. I personally use meguiars and chemical guy products. Once you've put a few coats on I'd leave it. Have you fully polished, decontaminated (de-tar, de-iron and clay bar) before you started waxing?

You might want to invest in some lovely carnauba wax if your looking to replel those rain drops, the sky is the limit on what you want to spend on that stuff,

Also have you tried clay? It's time consuming but rewarding when you see what contaminants you extract.

Yes a mean waxing !

I have allways just washed, shammied and waxed it, just never put this many coats on consecutively ! Was wondering if I was actually doing anything by waxing over and over again
The cream cloth stuff I get from halfrouds allways gets a little dis-coloured it's a black car, it's well looked after it doesn't see rain that often
I was looking at auto glyms clay bar in the store today! Looks very involved to do the whole car

Bin the shammy and get a drying towel. Shammy drags around micro contaminates which causes swirls and marring.

Would stop using SRP and start adding layers of wax if it was me. Poorboys stuff is excellent in my experience.

Bin the shammy and buy a good micro fibre drying cloth. I hope you are washing before you wax and polish each time.

You'll get a rake of opinions on this one so here's mine :-)

I always had my doubts about clay, but after trying a free bar of Bilt-Hamber I'm totally converted!  I use a synthetic sealant: http://www.cleanyour...t/prod_589.html  Lasts for absolutely ages and throws off anything the weather can muster.   Just wish I  had somewhere indoors where I could give it a clay and another coat.
