Just remembered I put up this link to pictures in the newbie section the other day, shows the extent of the rust on the flitch panel and scuttle corner.
Have a look and let me know your opinions.
I am new to minis and body work but not really afraid of tackling anything!
Thanks again all

Yup proper toasty there. I would also have a look around the fresh air vent as well to see if there is anything crispy starting there. That way you can do the complete flitch.
A M Machine inner sill to first flute should get rid of most if not all of that rot in the floor and inner sill. The flitch will be a stand alone panel and will also need the removal of the A panel to do properly.
Have a look at this to help you out.

Thanks Neil,
Yep the fresh air vent on the drivers side is gone, you can see in one of the pictures there is a hole just above it! The a panel is barely even attached to anything so will definitely be coming off.
I have repaired a hole in the passenger side flitch and cleaned it all up with a wire brush and surprisingly most of the passenger side is in great condition, the a panel did have to be changed though! Luckily the passenger side has the correct sills as well.
One thing I wouldn't mind a second opinion on is what to do with the scuttle corner on the drivers side, but then I assume if I am replacing the whole flitch then this scuttle corner will need to come off and so may as well replace it anyway?
I will be doing a bit more digging this evening and then I am away for the weekend so parts ordering and work will commence next week.

Thanks Neil,
Just had a bit more of a poke around and well here are some photos...
http://imgur.com/a/iWZEN (sorry about the link, havent had time to sit and figure out how to get the photos on here yet!)
So the sill and A panel were mostly attached with filler... easier to take off I suppose!
The door step is shot.... and there is rust as high up as the lower dash rail.
Flitch panel looks like toast..
Advice on panels to replace and in which order would be muchly appreciated!!
Thanks again all. Think I may have to start a project thread on this one.

Inner sill first followed by doorstep then flitch panel

Thanks again!

Personally I would as that way you can capture any other rot. I get mine made locally. The Heritage steps are ideal whereas the Magnum ones are crap

It amazes me how crusty some of these minis can get. Why did Rover never try to sort it out ?
Merde, I've just ordered 2 pattern door steps from mini spares :-(
Pete.

I'm with you on that one!
It looks as though water has been getting down into the corner and along the sill for some time! Some bad sealing somewhere, and then some kind fellow decided to cover it all up with an oversill some patches and way too much filler!
The passenger side is in good shape and still with the original sill, they must have built that side properly in the factory!
I have a mini garage no more than 5 minutes from my house so I will popping down there next week with a large shopping list....
