Just insured my Anniversary Cooper this morning with AF...£113 fully Comp. i then asked them for a quote on my Glanza which is a fresh Import from Japan. I'd full NCD from an Astra i sold last year, so 60% off, but they still quoted me £600. what the hell?
They went off to check when i said I'd sell the car before paying 600 quid for insurance. They came back with a new quote of £400, which i still think is ridiculous for a 74 year old guy who spent his working life driving Trucks all over Europe.
Their excuse is it wasnt registered yet, but, if it had been registered it might have been lower.
So I'll have my friend register it for me on his Company Policy, then transfer the V5C to me afterwards. Just another name on the V5C. No big deal. Otherwise its sayanora to the Glanza

I currently have 9 minis insured on one policy with Adrian Flux, including a 1967 mk1 Cooper S, total cost £550. Beat every quote by miles

The obvious question is...How many can you drive at the same time? So the risk element is very, very low. Easy money for the Insurance Company.

As a follow up to my Glanza saga...a guy suggested I try Greenlight. Nothing to lose, so I filled out their Application. Next day they emailed me with a quote of £329. The Insurance company they found willing to accept the "risk" was Highway. A lot lower than AF.
So much for loyalty to one Broker.

Latest update, called Greenlight to take them up on their quote of £329. Guy apologized, but said as I hadn't taken up the option at the time, they couldn't quote me within a year. Apparently one quote a year is their rule...hmmm, never heard that one before.
So, called Adrian Flux, and amazingly I was offered full Comp for £300...that'll do me. Still can't understand their original high quote.

Flux.... have a non mini vehicle insured with them, which I bought end of last month. Currently saying they will cancel my insurance end of this week if I do not provide the V5 to them (copy of). I do not yet have the V5 back from DVLA . Despite various calls to Flux and ERS the underwriters, I cannot persuade them to accept the new keeper supplement until I have it back. Did something similar with my son's policy (which I also took with them). He just passed his test and they put a cancellation threat on his policy if he did not supply his photocard, which he did not yet have back having surrendered his provisional and awaiting issue of the full license. This was after calling them to change his policy from learner to full license holder.  Crazy situation. Thankfully his card came through on Saturday otherwise his policy was to be cancelled yesterday.

The reason I went with Flux was that I had my previous mini with them for several years, with no issues, no additional paperwork required to be provided either. This time it's V5, licenses, check codes from DVLA, bank statements for proof of address, photo of odometer to prove starting mileage and photo of main vehicle no claims (which they mirror). Very disappointing.
