Gidday,

I'm currently restoring a 1994 Rover Mini Mayfair. I started a few weeks ago with removing the paint where I suspected rust. Now that a bit of time has passed the bare metal has already started to rust a bit(nothing dramatic). I was wondering what sort of rust protection I could put on those exposed places, before I sandblast it and prepare it for painting.

thats odd. I'm restoring my car and have left some surfaces bare for weeks and no rust forms.

If in doubt just spray it with Zinc primer (I'm using Upol #2) same thing I spary onto the surfaces that I'm welding (it's a weld through primer)

Use Epoxy primer, its water resistant and far better than Zinc primer. Mine has been covered in it for over two years while i have been restoring mine.
