ok manifold wont fit without bulk head mods , or modding the inlet .. so i am going the modding the inlet route .

got the front end roughly on :

i have gone flip front as the front was rusty as hell , and it just helps with access etc.

started playing with the gearlinkage , use to vauxhalls being all inside .. dont have much room for a 2 1/2 exhaust pipe under there when you have the linkage there as well.

Hi Matt - when you say "either mod the bulkhead, or mod the inlet" - What are you actually doing the inlet to make it fit?

(I'm doing a B16a2 with standard VT FI - Would like to avoid cutting the bulkhead if possible.)

gear linkage done , still not happy (read use to) the under floor linkage :D

did lots of other small bits , no photos .. my manifold idea will be completed by monday ..if i am not happy with it i will go another route... keep changing my mind.

mocked up a rad in cardboard :w00t: lol..

did not even bother trying to cut up the standard type-R exhaust manifold , bought a S.Alexander one instead .. just have to wait for it to arrive no and see if it fits :?

dont seem to have room for a servo at the moment , as it hits the dizzy ! lol

thats it for today ..sorry it was not much .. these vtec's take ages to build :-

In terms of engine size, yea, the 1.8 is slightly taller, 8 or 9mm rings a bell, but I could be completely wrong with that!

Make sure you get pretty much everything! E.g. Engine, Gearbox. Engine/gearbox mounts, Engine Loom and front car Loom, all fuse boxes, stalks (If wanted) Dials (if wanted) switches (If wanted), Drive shafts, gear linkage, Intake/Exhaust Manifold.

I think thats just about it, but people suggest to get a whole donor car to make things easier.

For what conversion? Engine?

Mine cost £900 with all of the things i mentioned and possibly more, people have got the lot cheaper though (£5-600)

Conversion price, hows longs a piece of string? I would say doing everything yourself and buying a subframe atleast £3000+

dont you need the engines Ecu as well unless going the standalone management route? and to be fair there is some baragin donor cars about if you look remember the car can be as rough as you like as long as the engines runs sweet if you can get a good donor car for about £1000-1200 then you will be in a much better situation than just an engine and box for £800 and you could sell parts off the car to make money back
