I'm hoping I can get help identifying some bearings in our gear box.
It is the original transmission in a 1961 Mini Minor built in September 1960. I think it is properly described as:
3 Synchro Cone Synchromesh with Pre 'A' Type gears
The descriptions I'm quoting are from the Mini Spares website.
1) BMC part number 2A3712 - Mainshaft Bearing - Pre '62 with 62.44 mm outside diameter.
It is clearly marked on the inner race with 1MDJT25G R&M
According to both Somerford Mini and Mini Spares it is no longer available but there is a website (Bearing-Web.com) that has an exact match on the bearing number but no cross reference to the BMC number.
2) BMC number 2A3709 - 1st Motion Ball Bearing (3 Sync 1st Motion Single Roller).
Marked on the outer race with 21MJ1 R&M
Both Somerford & Mini Spares have stock on 2A3709 but neither show an R&M number nor an outside diameter. Again, I've found an exact match for 21MJ1 on Bearing-Web.
3) BMC number AAU8424 - Roller 1st Motion Shaft Pilot to Clutch Case.
I don't have the outer race out of the case yet but the inner is marked with 7/LRJ5/8 RHP and it has 10 balls.
Mini Spares picture of this bearing is marked with 1/LRJ15.8 RHP and it has 11 balls. On Bearing-Web I can get an exact match both LRJ5 & LRJ15 numbers but nothing when I include the prefix and suffix so I don't know if they are part of the bearing identification.
My choices on the first one are limited so I'll need to order it from Bearing-Web. In the absence of an outside diameter on the second I'm thinking I should also get it from Bearing-Web too even though they are much more expensive. The third, with presence of prefix and suffix has me wondering what to do.
thoughts and insights are greatly appreciated, thanks
Brian
