Ooh, lovely shed and build!

Thanks :)

Great progress already. Im going to have sort some better lighting out in my garage looking at your pictures.

I'm thinking of going tube led or led flood lights on a separate circuit switch etc.
Any one had issues with the flickering etc when welding ? Guess I would buy one and try it out before I purchase all 16.....

You call that a garage ?,I call that heaven. Good luck with it

Thanks. It does seem lost in there sometimes. Parked the car next to it the other day just to give it some company . :D

Right ..... heating. When I was on top of the office storing parts of the mini I noticed it wasn't very warm even high up (remembering at least something from school heat rises so why was it same temp as ground level)
I found out... even though it's water tight there is a gap.

So I've use expanding foam on the roof joins the walls as there was a small gap all the way along.
It's not a work off art unless you are into Jackson pollock (which I am luckerly haha) anyway . It's made some difference so the space heater gets the chill off . But I wasn't done as I found as soon as the misses opened the big door the heat soon wafted out. And gas is expensive !!!
So !
I'm making something .. as I'll have nothing else better to do on new years day as everywhere is shut I can play .
Either it will work or well it wont. And I'll stay warm making it at least.
Will require one of these I had handy after it ran out of gas while I was heating the planet more than the workshop before I filled in the gap around the roof....

Your gas heater will be filling the place with water vapour, I'd rather be cold then have condensation rust the tools, so that looks a good option.

Been looking for something similar on eBay for a while and found a gas bottle burner ready done on eBay for £25 yesterday, so will probably get that. You'd think mine would be earth though with it being a blacksmiths, but the forge went years ago unfortunately!

Reckon you'll struggle to get that space very well though, the tin sheet will conduct heat far too well and it's a big space to heat quickly.

Yeah your very right about the moisture thing and most people don't realise that fact. As long as it's well ventilated it's not usually a problem but then well ventilated means poor heat retention . It's a balance thing.

Got a nice delivery this morning of first panels I ordered before Xmas. Another one coming at some point .

And 1st looks of my heat source creation

after I have made doors and a separated panel inside with a air surge hole inside .
Also a little window with heat glass I had from a previous job .

Welded the flue connector in now and started to work on the flue going upwards .
Will require more work yet.

I'm making it so it burns old waste oil and also wood (as I had 11 trees cut down 5 of which were monsters so I have a lot of wood to burn when it's dry so will chop and change) also have lots of old decking boards etc that I've chopped up on the chop saw.
Picture of my oil furnace burner I have made. Prototype 1.

Might fire it up outside today and see how we get on. It's not fully my idea I have taken different things from about 5 different you tubers. As it's a fully sealed top chamber the fire can be put out by turning the oil tap off and shutting the bottom door or just shutting the bottom door if a in wood fire mode as it starves the combustion chamber above.

Time will tell. Fun making it though if nothing else. And got to use the stick/arc function on my welder which I've never done as I ran out of gas. I felt like a farmer fixing a old tractor with the arc stick.

It's a pity you can't put a false ceiling in, that would really help with the heat and also provide additional storage up there.

Good luck with the project

I ordered as you can see from.panel pics full length half floors right and left.
Starting to think I should of ordered a whole floor as I'm not to happy about the centre tunnel as I was before the order.
I may order a new tunnel as well and replace that and weld the new floor half to it . It's a bit bum about face way of doing it but sending them back and 're orderering and waiting for a whole floor makes me cringe. And I got a fab before Xmas price too so never mind .
Got half floors . Box section . Tunnel. Sills. For ALOT cheaper than I thought so will just be more work and less pound notes .

Just know if i don't do it now I'll regret it later. It doesn't look to bad in the pics but it's soft to put a screw driver threw in a fed places where I wasn't happy.

Heritage scuttle came today too.
Feels so nice when they just clunk down and just look right. Will be a whle before I weld her on so it's back on the worktop again as it's helpful not being in the way currently.

I did have thoughts of a "mezanine" or however it's spelt but I do want a lift at some point so I'm holding off. I do have full height walking room above the full length of office roof up there so using that to keep my floor space clear.
But yeah I saw a guy on you tube do that and it looked like you could live in there !

Tested the heater outside before it comes inside before I cut a hole in the roof.
It's a monster of a heat source . When the top door is shut and it's drawing air through the bottom it literally roars ! Ran a small amount of waste veg oil in it earlier and was very impressed.
The last part turns up tommorow so I can pass it through the roof safely . So hopefully will just need the oil feed plumbing in and we should be set to go ! Can't wait .

Back to mini update .
Braced up the floor as I'll be removing the tunnel soon .

Removed the rotten rear right wing to see what's what. Found that the drain tube was blocked on both sides and between the door shut and the load floor it was rammed full of grit and dried muck. Because of the over sills it had nowhere to go....apart from.filling the sills up!

Found out I'll need the side strengthing panel also so will have to add that to the list on my next order

As a fully paid up 52 year member of the Dyslexic club myself your diction is much better than mine. Where would we be without Word and Google!

Bet you have that 'I wont be beaten by anything or anyone' spirit that's built into the majority of dyslexics too?

If you have not taken a look try and get hold of a copy of the 'Dyslexic Advantage' by Dr's Brock and Fernette Eide, it will explain a lot and give you an insight into why it's an advantage not a disability.

Love the waste oil burner, are you going to try some waste engine oil as well ... used veg oil is becoming hard to find nowadays.

Yeah I edit each post at least 3 times . Even time I proof read it first.... I do think people think I'm typing with a hammer sometimes.
Misses proof reads everything for me .
I tend to put things wrong way round or add two words together together like that if u know what I mean . Also put symbols on the end like 3.50£

I must say it has disadvantaged me somewhat. My maths and English scores at school wernt great but everything else I did really well in. Took my English and maths again and it didn't come to much apart from more drama so lost hope with it all. Has prevented me getting jobs I've wanted to do. And seeing down right twits in the jobs I would of done well in but can't without grades.
So yeah I went a different route and haven't done to badly.
I've read a few books about it but not that one. I shall look it up indeed
Thanks

Yeah it does run on waste motor oil too. Some people get upset about it so I won't say I do it. ( I will be though !:D)

The bit I'm waiting for hasn't arrived today . So it better tommorow as I'm back back to work for 4 days so can't play! I've modded it again now so it csn boil a kettle for me hopefully for a brew !

I finally have heat!
Made my own bracket out of Angel mild steel and welded it and made a clamp also to squeeze it so no drilling into the flue. Solid as a rock .

Making the oil drum for the feed. Fan out of time so will have to continue in 4 days time when I'm back from work. As I work away from home.

Sorry if project has turnt away from mini slightly as i cant work in the cold.

ive ordered yet more panels again...
