Was driving my car to Cornwall the weekend 170 odd miles got there fine. Drove home a few days later 7 miles into the journey back, stopped off for petrol went to drive out the garage on the bypass and no acceleration. The engine runs revs up and down will go alone when not touching the accelerator, but when you go to press the peddle nothing happens.
I have a automatic SPI classic mini, Ive looked at the distributor, cleaned the plugs, checked I defo put petrol in it and not diesel, took the injector pipe off and fuel is going coming through.
Does anyone have any ideas, as cant get it or tow it to a garage as its automatic.
Thanks very much matt

Literally nothing happens when you push the throttle?
Do the revs increase, but the speed doesn't?
Or is it just as if it's completely lacking in power?

To start with it would move then nothing. No revs at all when the dead spot comes under acceleration. It started off intermittently. I can rev it up hard and down. It would eventually cut out doing it after a whilst doing that. Atm it happens after 4 seconds of foot on peddle tryed to stall with no power. Just no power under accelerator. My grand mothers in tears about it, as cant tow an auto.

don't know how the oil system is on a auto , try changing the gear box oil and filter if it has one , very common fault for autos oil degrading.....

What happens if you hold it in a gear, rather than D?
Dunno mate. I'm not too familiar with the SPi, but it sounds like a fuel issue to me.
