Quick tip: put the lower shock bolt the opposite way around to avoid having to take off the wheel, caliper and disc if you have to change the driveshaft or similar.

Oke,

Glad Gonzo could help you.

But…..

It turns out that we don’t have the same calipers after all.

I did some research and came to the conclusion that I have:

Ford Sierra 18. CVH 2wd calipers. Model 88-93

R/H Caliper number 0658/4

For anybody who needs and wants to know.

Hoping someone can help me out here, especially Mandy and Gonzo!

I am currently upgrading my rear brakes from the sierra calipers to the Renault/Citroen ones. However, when I put it all together to tack in the new mounts (supplied by zcars) for the new calipers, they do not line up on the hub:

The calipers are the same as Mandy's. Here they are compared to the (what I believe to be) sierra calipers:

Here are the all the details of the pads (FDB877/GBD905):

Is anyone able to tell me if these match what they have and whether or not I am doing something wrong. 2 thoughts I have:

First is that I am using the tubular rear swingarms, not the box. Maybe the size/length of the hubs are different? They don't look different! Here is mine after I cut off the old caliper mounts:

My other theory is maybe the discs are the wrong kind because I was also having trouble getting the caliper+pads on the disc, though it is very close. If you see above it says the discs are for honda and mg...nothing about renault's.

Hopefully someone is able to tell me what i'm doing wrong and at the very least, maybe this information is useful to someone out there! Cheers :)

Without being "hands on"it is difficult to be definate but I would not think that was a showstopper.Pack it out with metal or wood or something, tiewrap it in place solidly and try the wheels.Does everything rotate/clear look good?Yes? get a curved plate to match the hub and weld the brackets to it.Brakes are a sensitive system to fabricate so take this advice at your own risk.Steve..

Thanks for your thoughts Steve. That is definitely an option and one I will take if I have to. It just seems weird that mine doesn't match up but others do. If you look at Mandy's picture on the first page his matches up fine so want to make sure I have the right setup and not missing something obvious before I start modifying hub/making new brackets to support it.

If you ask gonzo he will supply you the brackets to weld on as they are different to the ford hangers I have the cotton hangers on my busa kit and yes the fit is a tight fit when the pads and discs are new

Thank you for reply, good to know they are tight. I will have another go but they are really tight...like hammer the pads in tight, so I didnt want to risk damaging anything.

As for the brackets, I believe I have the correct brackets. The holes line up perfectly and they fit onto the hub perfectly....until I place the caliper onto the disc and put the disc onto the hub and then they do not line up, which is why I am thinking it could be the disc Here are the brackets:

I'm starting to wonder if it is the rotors. I was able to get the caliper on them with the pads. When i tested them in the wheel (ultralite 13x7 et-7) it feels like it is making contact and rubbing.

Do folks use wheel spacers in the rear?

Anyone have information what rotors I should be using to I can see if I have the right ones?

Cheers!

You can also make the discs smaller....  :shy:

That would work for the clearance of the rim but I also needed the rotors to be deeper so the caliper mounts would line up with the arm to weld.

Hi,

As I’m continuing my Zcars build, I’m searching for the part number or vehicle type the rear discs are from.

I’m using Peugeot/Citroën callipers.

Can anyone tell me what vehicle type I need to search on?
