Ok some pics and some reasoning.
the new wrenches
as you can see the smaller wrench is just a 3/8ths with a stepped bit.
the old SP ones
and the issues
setting the numbers is a bit hit and miss. and there is no lock and the graduated scale is a label.
on the small wrench the line is also printed on a clear plastic film
if that gets a hole in it....
so after me seeing how they compare using bolts and nuts and pointers i would say there is nothing really wrong with the old ones except they could easily become unusable.
and finally the baby.
for use on cycles.
oh and i gave the old wrenches a clean out on the ratchets.
one thing you should also consider when buying a torque wrench if they are normally only calibrated for use in one direction. so the flippy lever you see on many is rather useless...
