Join Welsh border mini club on Facebook, friendly bunch. More than happy to help
Thanks for the tip off I join the fb group and a guy called Neville referred me to a local welder. he seems like a decent sort, got to wait until the coronavirus situation is over and then we'll be in business

Ended up getting the welding done at an absolute bargain price by someone who restores minis on a regular basis. After the nightmare of the previous 'restorer' who nearly wrecked the car, the new guys really stepped up and delivered on their promises on time and at the price quoted.
Today I've been flat out cavity waxing the inner sill with bilt hamber dynax, refitting the interior and sorting out a few niggly jobs.
My wife is having a 'significant' birthday on Sunday and I can't wait to see her face when the Moo rolls up :)

Nice to see her back out in the sun and looking well.
It's a great result considering the tone at the begining of this thread.

Just goes to show things are rarely as bad as it first seems. As the guys here often say... walk away.. have a cup of tea... come back and reassess... get some mates involved.. and you would be amazed what can come out of a deemed initial disaster....and this applies to life not just the real life of our Minis .... never give up

We're generally pretty determined, just had a slight blip and learned from mistakes and experience to turn it into even more of a positive, as you say that's life.
Sending positive vibes to all on TMF especially given our current national predicament ?
We're out and about in the Moo today and are bound to make someone smile as we tootle past

There a sodding bargain really - not only do you get a rust bucket full of oil leaks when you get a Mini - you get a life coach, therapist, philosopher and mechanical engineering tutor in to the bargain.
I understand they're quite fun to drive too.
