On a positive note.....

Oxford scientists in the UK and China have developed a rapid new coronavirus test that can identify COVID-19 in 30 minutes:-

We had a hotel booking with the hotel on site for IMM 2020. Payment is due at the end of the month but I'll likely give up the reservation rather than risk the ~€400 payment. I suspect most summer events will be cancelled or delayed, sadly.

CURRENT INFORMATION.
We still assume that the IMM will take place. We will announce a final decision about a possible postponement on April 20th!
From this point on there is still more than 6 weeks to cancel any travel arrangements.
Please be patient and stay healthy!

but please note Germany has been isolating for about 2 weeks already.

imagine queuing to get into a shop. yep did that twice today.

Message below about the IMM 2020 postponement from Mk1 Forum:-

Dear Friends, Dear Guests,

The World is currently going through difficult times. As a result, you cannot imagine what it means to organise an international event.

In Bavaria we are locked down until the 19.4.2020. We do not know what will happen after this date. If we look to Asia then there is a real possibility that this will be extended. And even if not, we want to hold an International Mini Meeting, if our friends from other countries are not allowed to travel, then the spirit of the IMM will be lost. It is with this in mind that with a heavy heart we have decided to postpone the IMM2020. Since nobody knows how the rest of the year will look like, there is no point in moving it to later in the year. On the basis that at our event this year the IMM2022 would have been voted for, which won’t now take place, we are left with the logical conclusion to switch our event to 2022. As a result only one event has to be moved and Italy can take place as planned. All tickets, all fees which have been paid to us will remain valid. We have spoken to all involved parties, and technically there are no problems with this. It would please us greatly if you could join us in our decision. If however it is too unsure for you, then we will offer you the possibility for a refund of the ticket costs paid to us. Please understand that this could take some time.

Our Partners and Sponsors such as MiniSport, Minimine, Mini Classic, MINI Deutschland, Meguiars, Southern Lakeland Mini Centre and many more stand behind our decision.

Our merchandising shop and ticket sales will remain online, the App will continue and we will continue to work with the same enthusiasm. Thank you to all who are behind us.

Stay healthy and we hope see you in Italy

Your IMM Team

Hey all,
I've visited the area a few weeks ago since I had also privately booked a holiday appartment for the duration of the IMM which I didn't want to cancel. I just want to let you all know that the region in which the IMM 2022 will take place is very beautiful. We spent 3 absolutely lovely days there and enjoyed a beautiful landscape with poppy fiends and vinyards, as well as excellent food and great tasting wines and beers. Something to look forward to for all IMM participants. If you can, I'd suggest you spend a few more days there and enjoy Bamberg and the Steigerwald.

(Unfortunately we could not inspect the IMM area, but it is very easy to reach from the motorway.)

That's great to know! I was really looking forward to Germany IMM, however a few mates and I are going to hit the Nurburgring on the way there, so are making a small holiday out of it!

We had also made plans to attend IMM in Germany! tickets bought and local hotel booked for a few days

each side of the event.

The trip was intended to mark the anniversary of the first time we drove a Mini to Germany 50 years ago!

also to spend a couple of weeks visiting family and new friends in Holland.

We had also intended to celebrate my wife's cousins fiftieth wedding anniversary! one year more than us.

I hope to be able to attend 2022 all being well!!!

unfortunately the event has been postponed again to 2024.

This is what I found on facebook by the organizing team:

Dear Mini Family,
the situation is improving, but as you can see on the World map visits from various countries are still difficult. Unfortunately it is still the case that, despite the relaxation of various rules, it is still unclear what the situation will be in 14 weeks time. Even if we received permission after the 20.03. to hold the event, the bavarian Government can still withdraw this right up until the day of the event. How can we plan an amazing IMM? We would love to celebrate, eat and talk mini with you, but we can’t promise this.
Once again it breaks our heart, but we are forced to delay the IMM for a further 2 years!
The Reasons:
- the most important and most significant reason is that at this moment in time we will not get a license from the local government to hold an event of this size. We “may” get an approval with “2G Plus” (vaccinated / recovered or tested)! As such we have no security in our planning and so better to move the event now than one week before. Many of you now want to book ferries, accomodation and to plan your trip.
- We want to invite the whole world to the IMM. Germany (and many other countries) currently have a “Red” status. A High Risk Area. Everyone who arrives must be vaccinated / recovered or be tested! Depending on the country your travelling from she / he may have to go into quarantine. This may be possible for a very few of us.
- We want to celebrate an IMM with the whole Mini Family and all Guests unrestricted without the differentiation of being vaccinated or not, without distancing and Masks. Currently unimaginable.1f61e.png
Yes, we know that 2024 would be an IMM in England. We are forced to postpone and so there would also be no vote for an Englisch Club for the IMM in 2024. England would then be voted for in the Presidents meeting in Italy in 2023. Yes the “Rules” state every five years in England but the “Corona Virus” has no rules, and we absolutely want to prevent the IMM from dying!
All bought tickets will naturally remain valid!!! (Refund possible until 31.12.2022)
Please trust us and support us, so that we we can all healthily come together and celebrate an IMM again.

Best Wishes your IMM TEAM 2020 Germany
