I’ve had this dead engine in the garage for a fair few years now.
Decided to start sprucing it up as a man cave ornament, just got the wok etc to paint next week.

Helps to take your mind off things in these uncertain times.

Certainly looks the part. Nice environment to build it. Bet the missus was over the moon with that? ?

She’s a bigger petrol head than me, she made this table for the living room around her damaged Abarth alloy wheel......

Nice. I thought it was a turini alloy from a clio at first glance.

I had slight play in a ball joint. Rather than a quick re-shim of the offending joint this has turned into a full strip and overhaul of both hubs.

I'll needlessly have the subframes fully out next. Haha

Sounds like an engine rebuild situation. ?

Well I set out to clear some space in the man cave.

Took wheelie bin with me as it had just been emptied. Means business...

So.. everything is now out of the garage.
Bin still empty..
Rain started.. quick as you like all back in the garage. And bonus is.. more space for junk...

Anyone got any bits that I can needlessly hoard away and forget what I actually have....

Wife sees space in garage.... bonus poi ts, and empty wheelie bin.. she this is I went to the tip as well..

Man logic right there..... classic that as winning.....

Had planned on removing a load of brackets and refinish them, tidy up a few seats , replace the rear carpet underlay with some closed cell foam, eBay off a load of spare stuff....  the list is long.

With 12 weeks of protective custody to do, I’d a lot of jobs I had hoped to sort before the wee car is used for my daughters wedding.

But Mother Nature has intervened and I’ve a pile of back muscles that have decided to stop working.   Looks like I’ll be spending quarantine working my way through the Netflix catalogue.

Today I took 6 panes of glass off my garage door to clean up and Re putty them back as they were almost falling out. Tool ages.

Well, until now I have been working at home and with that has come some lazy hours and little productivity. However, as of Monday I intend doing more - working in the morning, garage in the afternoon. I always feel guilty sloping off to the garage as we have a three year old, and it's not fair on the wife to just leave her indoors with her the whole time - BUT she agreed this is fine and she doesn't mind!

So, I have a 2005 Clio to sort out that has a leaking sunroof, a big puddle of water inside it, and mould that needs a damn good scrubbing away. It needs a damn good service and when we are all good again, a damn good run out. My boss got it free for his son from a relative, so until he had it a one lady owner car with 30-odd thusands miles on it. It has a couple of dents, but has barely been run in at this point. It only did short journeys however so there is a load of gunk in the top of the engine, hopefully just condensation. It certainly seemed to drive fine on the way home. original plan was sell it on, but now I think my brother in law is going to have it, so I'll make a little profit on it but not as much as I was going to.

Then I have two bikes to strip and service, another that needs a full build. Then if we are still going, I have an Giulietta that needs a few little bits here and there - I was considering a full service, but not sure it's quite due yet. Might do it early. If still time, see what I can do with some of the bits for the mini.

What about those people you wouldn't think about being on lockdown - spies - are they still working? Strippers? Prostitutes... or does that count as a maximum two person gathering :D   Any others?

One of those will still be working! I'll leave it to your imagination as to which!

In that case, you are extremely lucky. My wife hates all that stuff, mostly because the mini has been in bits for a while now rather than hating it outright! Plus, I spend all my time tidying the damn garage rather than doing any work in it. I'd love her to be a petrol head though.

I´m very lucky with my other half being into all this lark too. In fact it was her who pushed me into buying the wreck that was my Cooper. Classic Alfas are more her jam (a GT Junior at the top of the list), but sadly outside our financial reach at the moment.

Sadly I'm getting nothing done on anything at the moment as my workshop is out of bounds right now due to restrictions. But I'm using the time to gather parts and supplies to hit the ground running when we're released again.

I'm in the same boat as you. We have a 3 year old that constantly wants to do things. He would be welcome to join me in the garage buy it's far too dangerous plus he knows how to open and close the mini door so I know I would come back to dents where he would bang it against the garage wall or clutter in there. I would leave him to play in the garden but ours leads to the front with no gate so that's too dangerous.

by the way the clio sunroof leak is a very common problem. We have a dci that leaks and we are so tempted to just silicone the thing shut. My 182 don't have a sunroof so I'm ok ?

I must be spending too much time in the garage working on my Minor traveller, I actually got a few decent weld runs yesterday :proud:
