Many years ago, I rebuilt my classic Mini shell with a Wolseley Hornet bonnet, on which I had replaced the Wolseley badge with an M.G. one.
I re-registered it as an "M.G. Bee"

Sounds like the South African Wolseley 1000.

I'm off to S.A. next week. I must look out for one.

For some reason, I had never thought of doing that (the bonnet, not the name). Nifty.

It looks more complicated than just the bonnet, though?
Surely the panel below the bonnet is different as well, with those "nostrils", and is the centre grille part of the bonnet?
Where would you get a hornet or elf bonnet from these days, without selling a major organ?
