I have recently acquired a 1990 project and my intention is to build a race car for next season. The finished article will be a 1960's recreation with the usual MK1 rear lights, boot lid, sliding front windows etc
I have found a "Classic" series where the car would be acceptable and the regulations are quite flexible in as much as long as it is in the "spirit" of the period it is allowed. Internal changes to engine, gearbox are allowed together with suspension, infact the only real stipulation is the choice of wheels/tyres at 10" 165/70.
Before I go off and waste my time and money on the wrong things my question is if you were able to build a mini that would be both competitive but on a budget, what specification would you opt for? I am thinking of all areas including engine, carbs, gearbox, brakes, suspension etc. Are there any "must haves" or "don't do's" ?
All suggestions would be gratefully received.
Thank you.
Mike
