They have just whacked my premium up by over 50% at a time of no car shows, and no essential use of a classic car. Its a 1981 bog standatd Mini Pickup.

Who would you guys recommend as an alternative ?

Flux breakdown is diabolical. My wife and I were told we would have to wait 90 mins for rescue, turned out over three hours stranded with no phone call from flux to keep us informed. We were near Shrewsbury so not out in the sticks.

In contrast I was with RH specialist in the preceding five years. Had a few breakdowns and never waited more than 40 mins.

I'll be going back to RH or trying an alternative recommended by members on here.

In fairness it won't be flux providing the service, they will outsource to other companies. I'm with the rac and I can't say I've been impressed, last time I needed them due to a failed electronic ignition module it took so long I ended up calling a family member. To get them to bring me a spare dizzy out!

I'd just get personal cover, that means youre covered. In any vehicle even it it's not your car or you driving. Some policies that just cover the vehicle can be a bit funny with the cars age.

All,

Just as a follow up Flux would not move on the quote so I wont be renewing my breakdown cover with them. Very cheeky to up it by over 50% when they know there is pretty much zero chance of a call out as most classics are not being used  mine certainly isnt right now, and I dont have home start.

I will also be looking to move my insured fleet of minis from them at renewal time.

I would have thought in these unprecedented times they would want to help out but they would rather money grab.

Luckily I do hold a grudge so when this is all over they will not be getting my business in the foreseeable.

Try AutoAid for breakdown cover alone, or alternatively the breakdown cover provided by footman james as an add on to their classic car insurance policy is good value.

Just paid £67 from flux 5000 miles per year. Will be choosing autoaid instead of buying rubbish flux rescue.
