Hello, I'm trying to source the correct inner pot joint boot for my 1972 Mini 1000.

Bear with me, I am learning the basics here. In the process of getting me Mini certified road-worthy, the inspection requires I replace the 'inner cv boot'—I am hoping the inward pot joint boot is the same in this case.

So I have found on a number of the popular parts stores have conflicting information on which model year any of the Boots are compatible with. One is for 1984-2001, while another is 1973 onward (helpful). I have also found one or two to not have any model year listed.

Am I missing something? Is the Inner pot joint boot the same across every year? If not, what part should I actually be looking for to install in a 1972 model?

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome here :proud:

OK, so, up until about March or April 1973 on the Inboard End, from the factory, these cars had Universal Joints.

They changed in production at this point to Inboard CV Joints (or Pot Joints as they are sometimes referred to) and these were the same Joint and took the same boot from this time to the end of production.

Of course, it is possible someone has changed yours to a Pot Joint setup at some time.

Likewise, I'm just wondering of in fact it might be a Uni Slip Joint Boot it is you are needing ?

Might need you to post some photos so we can work this out.
