Hi guys, I'm in the last mile getting my car built and we're trying to work out what to use to fill the doors with. The rules say:
...either be solid foam-filled or filled with carbon/aluminium honeycomb inserts. A filling inspection-hole is required.
Having emailed the series scrutineers, I've been advised that the inserts needs to completely fill the door & that the material used be flame retardant. They mandate no minimum safety standard.
My builder wants to use a the carbon/aluminium option, but to fill the door with that stuff will be ££££ and may actually be heavier than the standard door!
Does anyone have a good experience with the foams & if so can they advise which product you've used please?
