Historic Mini Car Insurance

Hi all,

 

I have just bought a 1976 Mini and I will be collecting it this Saturday, so I need to get the car insurance sorted ASAP.

 

Just wondering which company are you guys using and what sort of money you pay annually?

Suppose it depends on your postal code and expected miles..

Definitely you need classic insurance, rather than a policy from a 'general' car insurer. Some will give you a discount for club membership. Before long you should also get an agreed valuation and have that added to the insurance to protect yourself.

 

What you pay will depend on your age, the car's age and value, modifications, where you park, how many miles per year, whether it's used for commuting...

Adrian Flux are good, if you want to make sure it is properly insured for its current value, you will need to fill out an agreed value form, normally £15, but it locks in the value, unlike normal car insurance. 1 years insurance should be between £100-£200 depending on all of the above, better if its garaged.

I'm with Adrian Flux, about £90 a year with a 3000 mile limit assuming garaged overnight.

Admin: apologies for selecting the wrong subchat, I'm quite new to the forum.

 

Thanks everyone for your responses, I will do some research on the companies suggested. The car will be garaged and I don't intend to do many miles. The car needs restoration, but I'm taking the insurance now, so I can drive it back from the current owner's place. 

 

Does anybody know if you can take the insurance for weeks or months?

I went with Adrian Flux at the end.  It was the cheaper one with all the cover I need.

I use haggerty have my mk1 850 and mk2 998 Cooper covered by them, easy to deal with and cheap for what you get. Easy to get a quick online quote with them, but they do offer club discount schemes if you call.
