Good afternoon. I am about to swap out the old destroyed front tower bushes with the engine in place (1995 jdm spi).  Have read Guess-Works description and photos in 2005 thread. My question is with the engine in place is there any other components that need to be removed such as shocks or gearshift linkage before lowering frame to obtain access?

Also do I assume access to the lower tower bolt bush would be through the wheel well?

Thanks

Kim

It only needs lowering 20mm,I did not disconnect anything when retrofitting solid mounts.Mine was a 1989 carb 998 car though.Steve..

I agree with the above.

Support the frame from beneath, unbolt the mounts and gently lower it down.

You will be able to slip the bushes in and out from the engine bay

Thanks for all the suggestions. Ben_O my engine bay is pretty full of stuff like the rad, brake booster and ecu making it difficult to even see the bottom of the tower mounts.  Do you think I need to remove these to get at the lower bush?

Be careful with the metal brake pipe when lowering. You only need to lower enough just to wiggle the mount out and slot the new one in.

Changed the mounts on my SPI without removing anything, it's a bit fiddly but not difficult

Being JDM, do you have air conditioning?  That makes a difference, you need to disservice the refrigerant and remove the accumulator by the brake servo to get to the tower bolt. If you don't have air conditioning, disregard.

I do not have a/c. I removed it last year. The clutter in the engine bay was for me, not worth the added cooling value.

FYI I was able to swap out the bushes today. Only issue I had was I needed to remove the dampers to allow the frame to lower enough to get them out.

Thanks to all for your help. Onto the next upgrade!!
