Thanks sonikk. Now i am mostly happy i intend to get busy with the wire brush and give it a good sorting out.
I may well do the process again when its clean.

 

If in doubt, its always worth another application to settle your mind. We do several applications if the first attempt is dubious. And then if there is any further doubt we then call in the NDT team to do a Eddy current or ultrasound scan dependant on the material.

Cheers. I would imagine getting the ultra sound testing would probably cost more than buying a new one (for the man in the street to get it done).

Yup, its not cheap but then again nothing is within the Aviation sector. The preparation part of all of this is something i get heavily involved with. And NDT is a very good skill set to acquire as well. Its used in multiple industries and there are numerous processes within it. One i quite like is the Fluro Penetrant process with is very similar to Dye penetrant however you use a fluorescent penetrant fluid and Black Light to highlight areas of concern.
