Jap Import Cooper 1989 - With Ac

Was really nice in its day. Walnut dash. And AirCon - which was still working ok.

 

Sadly, it needs a fair bit of work on it.

 

Used to run very well. Not been used hardly at all for last 3-4 years. Did get it started (new starter motor needed) about a year ago.

Does need welding apparently. £1000+ apaprently. Also the bodywork needs attention.

 

Plan was for our 17 year old to have but to be honest, and this is sacrilege I know, but we'd prefer him to have a modern car with abs etc. And its probably gonna take some time to sort it.

 

Realistically, how much would I be able to sell this for? Be a great car with some work done on it - the AC is a nice feature.

Not a Cooper if its 1989...... RSPs werent launched until 1990.

Like I said its Japanese. Right hand drive - but speedo in km etc. japanese writing etc. It may be 1990?

Water pump is very noisy so likely bearings are gone in that.

 

Complete front end from a panels forward, ns door and then into paint which will require complete respray.

 

All 4 tyres, complete exhaust from front pipe back both front suspension cones, front tie bar bushes, front subframe mountings, lower arm bushes, front brake pads and discs front flexi brake hoses, Rear shoes, cylinders and adjusters, rear flexi brake hoses.

 

Steering rack gaiters, all 4 front ball joints.

 

Both rear radius arms have slight play.

Here is report from mini garage:-

 

It needs a lot of welding, ns a-panel door step inner wing outer sill and floor area. Os flitch panel and outer sill, rear valance, boot floor edge and osr under lamp panel.

The badge says 1.3i, which should mean it's injection and therefore no earlier than 1991.

Manufactured in 1996 so must be an MPI?

wonder why it doesnt have the airbag wheel etc
