Hi

Has anyone got any experience of the door hinges available on ebay for £80 (for 4). Genuine ones are available from Mini Spares but they're £210 + delivery. I get it that genuine a re likely to be better, but they still wear out! just didn't want to buy and fit £80 for them to fail in a very short period of time.

Any insight greaty appreciated.

Shaun

I bought the cheap ones and couldn't get most of the bolt holes to even line up so so bit the bullet and went for the expensive MiniSpares ones. Even then there was one bolt hole that that I had to enlarge and file a new countersink, but at least they then fitted. I'm not sure where the problem lies, whether its the door hinges or variations in the manufacture of the doors.

I bought the expensive Minispares ones, having bought the cheaper offering first and returned them. I honestly do not think the expensive ones are worth the premium. I was expecting mirror images hinges that moved freely. I had one in a vice that would not move at all with a mole wrench clamped to it.. Even replacements for the worst ones from Minispares were pretty poor.

I think the least worst option is the cheap Minispares offering. They are not much worse and they are cheaper. Happy days :)

Thanks for the replies - well that's made my mind up. I'll have to make a couple of jigs and bore/ream these out and fit over-size pins.

@Mk1leg - if I'm not happy with my repair I'll probably be in touch - are you meaning a spare used original set?

Cheers

Shaun
